Tryouts for 2024-2025 AA and A teams in Eastern Region for the U14 and U16 groups will be held in the Spring of 2024.
U19AA tryouts will begin August 26th, 2024 with A tryouts following in early September.
NOTE: New this year, U19AA will be hosted as regional teams and not with local associaitons. U19A will still be hosted by associations.
A schedule for tryout exhibition games will be published on this page when ready. Schedules for tryout sessions prior to the exhibition games will be communicated by the host associations. Each association will provide a tryout information page on its web site which will include or point to the association's policies relevant to tryouts and out-of-association players. It may also include information on pre-tryout tune up or conditioning sessions (if held) and the tryout sessions for that association's teams. Unless cut, all players should plan to attend all ice times held by the association(s) whose tryouts they are attending. Additional details and requirements are listed in the Eastern Region Tryout Policy below.

Questions?
Questions on the ERRA Tryout policy or the Tryout Sign up Forms should be directed to
Jennifer Thompson
Questions on an association's tryouts, player evaluation or teams should be directed to that association.
Tryout Schedule:
Tryouts consist of evaluation sessions followed by exhibition games. The evaluation sessions are scheduled by each hosting association and will be posted on the respective association website.
Players must comply with any tryout attendance policies the hosting association may have and participation in exhibition games is by invitation based on the players performance at the evaluation sessions. In the case of schedule conflicts (when trying out for two associations), players must prioritize which session to attend as follows:
1) The player's Home Association (if holding tryouts for the level being sought)
2) The association played for in 2023-2024 (if different than "Home")
3) Others
Where a player is trying out for both teams in a single game, the player must play for the team identified using the priorities above.

EASTERN REGION TRYOUT POLICY
Player Requirements
Players intending to try out for a U19 or younger AA or A team are required to register on-line on the Eastern Region website prior to attending tryouts. To register please go to the registration links found aboveand register on-line to attend tryouts. Players must follow all Ringette Ontario release policies and if trying out for any association other than their Home association, are required to provide proof of registration from RAMP before stepping on ice for tryouts.
Players must attend their Home Association’s tryouts if any are held for the level of play being sought. In the case of any schedule conflicts, the player must attend their home association’s tryout in preference to any others. Players with a Current association (played for during the recently completed season) different than their Home association must attend that association’s tryouts if the desired level of play is offered unless the player attends only tryouts held by their Home association. In the case of schedule conflicts, first priority is given to the player’s Home association tryouts, then their “Current” association and only then, any other association. Players may attend tryouts at a maximum of two associations.
Players trying out for two teams where their home association does not have a team at that level must indicate their preference by email to the president of each association. The player is required to state their preference after attending one tryout with each association. The President of the preferred association must communicate their association’s intent to the second choice association to facilitate timely decision-making. For example if the preferred association’s last tryout is after the second choice association’s last try out the preferred association must communicate in confidence, president to president, their intention to offer the player a spot or not. This will allow the second choice association to decide whether or not to make an offer to the player without unnecessary delay.
Association Requirements
All associations in Eastern Region intending to host A or AA teams in U14, U16 or U19 will hold tryouts for those teams during the Spring of each year. The entire team must be chosen at that time, shortly after the completion of each tryout. When an association has players attending a late-season event such as Nationals or the Eastern Canadian Championships, that association will delay the start of its own tryouts as needed to accommodate those players. Associations with players attending AAA tryouts will schedule their own tryouts for the affected age groups to avoid conflicts with any ERRA or United AAA tryouts.
Tryouts for 18+ Open teams, where used as part of team selection, may be held at any time meeting the needs of the team and the association or organization hosting it.
For U19 and younger, Eastern Region will coordinate the scheduling of exhibition games between associations as part of tryouts in order to ensure an equitable distribution of game opportunities and to ensure that the process completes at roughly the same time for all. Eastern Region will also arrange for referees for these games however the associations will be responsible for the costs of both officials and ice.
Each Association will have their own policy regarding the acceptance of out of association players on their competitive teams. These policies will be posted on each association’s web site and may or may not contain limits on the number of such players that will be accepted, or requirements on the ranking of out of association players to be considered for a team. For the purposes of tryouts, associations will not apply OOA policies to players who played in the just-completed season within their association.
Each association will set its own tryout fee structure and fees, and will publish those fees on its web site.
