Training Requirements
Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Junior Coaches
- All coaches should visit the Ringette Ontario Coaching Pathways site to see the training that they need at this link: https://ringetteontario.com/the-people/coaches/coaching-pathways/
- All coaches will be required to complete Making Headway (See details on Coaching page) – A course on managing concussions.
- Junior Coaches (those who are 14 to 17 years old as of December 31st of current year) are required to:
- complete the Coach Initiation in Sport eModule;
- complete the Respect in Sport eModule;
- complete the Making Ethical Decisions Clinic and Online Evaluation.
Maintenance of Certification
Wondering how to get PDU's? Visit the Ringette Canada website - Coaches - Maintenance of Certification. Scroll down about halfway and you will find a nifty matrix where you can see all the basics in the top grid (for eg active coaching - 1PDU per year, NCCP activity 5 PDU's per., etc), plus 'other' types of training that have been pre approved for a specific number of PDU's in the 2nd grid (eg Speak out through Hockey Canada 3 PDU's, Respect in Sport 3, CSI Nutrition Module 5...).

Managers
- Managers must complete the Manager Certification Program, available online on the Ringette Canada website.
Trainers
- All teams U9 to U19 must have at least one Bench Staff member who has First Aid Certification. It is highly recommended that this person be present at all games and team activities. Note that this person does not have to have the title of ‘Trainer’; it can be one of the coaches.
- All trainers must have completed Making Headway (See details on Coaching page) – A course on managing concussions.
- All trainers must have completed Respect in Sport
- Trainers ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED to attend either a CSI or CI clinic or have completed the Hockey Trainer Certification Program Level 1. In addition, trainers do not need to take the MED in class course or the online evaluation. Trainers only need to have First Aid Certification. However, there can only be one trainer on the bench at one time at any level.
General / Teams
- Note that all bench staff must be properly qualified for their positions by NOVEMBER 1st 2019. Any unqualified bench staff will be removed from the bench as of November 2nd.
- Anyone can review the public profile of a coach or trainer at coach.ca. Once on the site click on Public Profile at the top of the page and then enter the NCCP# (formerly the CC#) and the coaches’ last name and you will be able to view a profile with all recent coaching certifications including MED Online
